The iPhone 12 is Apple’s plan for a smartphone that will successor the iPhone 11 from last year. It’s housed in a chassis that contains traces of other Apple products. Improved hardware is packed into the chassis, promising better performance than last year’s model.
What’s more, Apple eliminated the charging brick in the box. Meaning the iPhone 12 comes without a charger. More on that later in the article.

Design and Display
The easiest way to characterize the iPhone 12 design is as a cross between the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 11, combining the past and the current to provide aficionados with a better mix.
We have smooth and flat edges, similar to those seen on the iPhone 5, iPhone 4, and iPhone SE. The aluminum and glass frame are flush because to the flat sides.
On the front and back panels, there are hints of the iPhone 11’s aesthetics. Furthermore, Apple did not lower the notch, which is a departure from what the sources predicted and a disappointment for notch-haters like me who wished for the notch’s elimination.
On the front panel, Apple kept the display at 6.1 inches, which is the same size as the iPhone 11. The display technology, on the other hand, was updated, going from an LCD panel to a Super retina XDR OLED panel.
The display’s resolution is 1170 x 2532 pixels. It also has a 460 PPI density. However, given how popular the feature has become among high-end flagship smartphones, Apple missed including a 120Hz refresh rate, which was a feature most people expected to see on the iPhone.
A Ceramic Shield is paired with this display for safety, and Apple promises it will provide four times the drop protection we’ve seen on previous iPhones. This ceramic shield is made out of ceramic glass crystals that were inserted into the glass layer to increase the screen’s durability.
The Cameras
The iPhone 12 has the same cameras as the iPhone 11, but the primary rear camera has a narrower aperture, which is visible.
The iPhone 11 has a dual-camera setup on the back, with the primary camera being a 12MP wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/1.6, rather than the f/1.8 on the iPhone 11.
Low-light and portrait photography will benefit from this aperture reduction. In terms of low-light photography, the iPhone 12 allows for portrait photography in dim light.
The secondary camera on the back is a 12MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of vision and an aperture of f/2.4. Video recording is limited to 4k 60fps, which aficionados may find disappointing given that phones like the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus provide 8k video recording.
The front camera is the same 12MP as the iPhone 11, but it also includes night mode shooting, which is useful for taking images in low-light situations.
Hardware
The iPhone 12 is pushing the boundaries in terms of performance hardware, including the world’s first 5nm processor on a mobile phone, the Apple A14 bionic chip, which we first saw on the Apple iPad Air 2020. Other devices in the series, such as the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, use the same chipset.
Apple’s quad-core GPU, 4GB RAM, and triple storage options of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of internal storage are among the other performance enablers.
Software
On the software the iPhone 12 rocks the iOS 14.1. It comes packed with all the latest goodies including the newly introduced widgets.
Connectivity
The debut of devices like the iPad Pro 12.9 2020 with USB Type-C ports may have hinted at the possibility of a USB Type-C port on 2020 iPhones, but the iPhone 12 and its siblings didn’t get one.
The lightning port was kept by Apple. On one end of the cord, there is a lighting connector, and on the other end, there is a USB-C connector.
NFC, Bluetooth, and dual-band WiFi are among the iPhone 12’s other connectivity features.
First 5G iPhone
The iPhone 12 is the first iPhone with 5G connectivity, which was a foregone conclusion given the level of innovation surrounding 5G internet access.
The fact that 5G coverage is now limited is pretty much unavoidable. Apple, on the other hand, promises users smooth high-definition video streaming, quicker downloads, and more with 5G connectivity.
Apple launched “Smart Dara Mode,” a function that allows the iPhone 12 to automatically convert to 5G as needed in order to reduce battery consumption as a result of 5G connectivity.
iPhone 12 Price and Availability
The iPhone 12 costs roughly $699. In Nigeria, the price starts at roughly 450,000 Naira, in Egypt at 15,500 EGP, in Ghana at 6,500 GHC, and in Kenya at 125,500 KSh. The smartphone can be purchased through a variety of online retailers.
The 128GB iPhone 12 is priced at $849, while the 256GB model is priced at $949.
