According to ThisDay, Frank Nweke Jr., a former communications minister in the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, would run for governor of Enugu state.
Nweke, who has been largely absent from politics, will run for office under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) banner.
The APGA screening committee made the announcement in a statement, confirming that Mr. Nweke had passed the screening procedure and was thus qualified to run for governor.

Further information revealed that the APGA also cleared Waya Joseph, Umeadi Peter Nnanna Chukwudi, Udensi Chikwendu Ukaobasi, Ijioma Nwokoro Ijioma, and Ibe Gregory Ikechukwu.
Others were Akaa Priscilla Denen, Odoh Benard Ifeanyi, Ozoemena Obi Donatus Madubuike, Nnamani Emeka, Udeh Donatus Ofobuikem, and Ombugaku Mathew Avre; Uwa Etigwe (SAN) was described as ‘uncleared.’
Chimaroke Nnamani, a former state governor, had Nweke as his chief of staff. During President Olusegun Obasanjo’s second term (from 2003 to 2007), he was then named the Minister of Youth, Minister of Information, and ultimately the Minister of Information and Communications.
