Skype is a practical tool for making calls to friends and coworkers, setting up video conferences, chatting, and exchanging data. You need to have Skype installed on your device and be signed in to utilize it. We’ll walk you through setting up a Skype account, downloading and installing the software, adjusting your options, and maximizing the program in this tutorial.
How to download and install Skype
You must first download and install Skype before using it. It is available for download here for Windows, Linux, Mac, Android, iPhone, and iPad.
Double-clicking the program folder will initiate the installation of Skype after it has been downloaded. The app can be launched once it has been completed.
How to create a Skype account
If you have never used Skype before, you must create an account. Launch the app and choose You lack a user account. Create one!
Next, input your phone number, make a password, type your first and last name, and select your birthdate.
A confirmation code will then be given to your phone number, as follows: Click Next after entering it in the appropriate field.
Congratulations! Your Skype account is now active. Now that you have tested your microphone and camera, you must upload your profile image. These steps can be skipped if you’d rather and finished later. The same procedures apply if you’re registering on a tablet or mobile device.
How to add Skype primary email address
To alter the primary email address linked to your Skype account, follow these steps.
Select your profile image in the Skype app’s upper left corner after signing in. Select Your profile in the right pane of the Settings section by scrolling down.
The web interface for Skype will be instantly redirected to you. In Contact Details, edit or add your email address and then click Save.
You can add several email addresses to your Skype account to make it easier for friends and coworkers to find you. You can connect your account to a single main email address if you do this. Before exiting the page, don’t forget to click Save to save your changes.
How to sign in automatically
You can configure automatic sign-in in Skype based on your platform.
On Windows and Linux, Skype starts up by default when you turn on your computer. If not, you are welcome to. Click Menu > Startup and Close, then choose the “Automatically start Skype” checkbox.
Go to Settings > General on a Mac and select the checkbox next to the tab. Keep Skype operating in the background so that it continues to function even if the Skype window is closed. To have your account automatically logged in, navigate to the Skype icon > Options > Open at login.
Open the app on Android, go to Settings > General, and choose Sign-in Automatically.
On the iPhone or iPad, there is no such thing as automated sign-in because once you log in, you stay logged in. Open the Skype app, press on your profile image, and then choose Sign Out in the top-right corner to end the current session and log out.
How to add a second Skype account
For instance, you can utilize two Skype accounts—one for personal use and the other for business meetings. Use the procedures indicated above to create a new account after signing out of your current one. The system will alert you that this person is already registered if you provide the same email address or phone number.
You can sign in to one account from your computer and another from a smartphone or tablet, even if you cannot use two accounts on the same device at the same time.
Another choice is to sign in to Skype for web and your desktop or mobile application at the same time.
