Design and Display

The Umidigi Bison chassis was created to provide superior protection against harsh conditions. Its aesthetics, however, are unaffected. It has one of the best-looking designs among rugged smartphones, in my opinion.

This is a good first stab by Umidigi into a segment dominated by Ulefone models such as the Ulefone Armor 8 5G, Armor X8, and Armor 9E.

The fact that the Bison is marketed as a rugged smartphone suggests that we should expect water and dust resistance ratings. It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, proving that it is no slouch. This rating indicates that it can survive for 30 minutes in 1.5m of water.

Still, its capabilities back up its title as a rugged smartphone. It also has an IP69k rating, indicating that it can withstand high water pressures of 100 bar and temperatures of 80 Β°C.

Finally, the bison guarantees drop protection from a height of 1.5 meters. Which, in my opinion, covers the most common mobile phone accidents.

In conclusion, enthusiasts who purchase this smartphone have little to worry about in terms of fragility. The lack of a fragile chassis, combined with the IP68 and IP69k ratings, means it will not succumb to minor mishaps.

The Umidigi Bison has a 6.3-inch FHD display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. This display has Gorilla glass protection, which adds to its durability.

The Cameras

The Umidigi Bison includes a capable camera with a slew of features that make mobile photography enjoyable in the right circumstances. You have a camera setup that demonstrates the superiority of models such as the Doogee S88 pro.

On the back, there are four cameras: a 48MP primary with an aperture of f/1.79, a 16MP ultrawide camera with a 120Β° field of view, a 5MP depth camera, and a 5MP macro capable of photographing objects as close as 2cm. Video modes include 1080p, 720p, and 480p video recording at 30 frames per second.

A single 24MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0 takes selfies on the Umidigi Bison.

Hardware and Software

The Umidigi Bison comes with an Octa-core Mediatek Helio P60 Processor, 6GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 flash storage for internal storage, SD-card support up to 256GB, and a non-removable 5000mAh battery. It also has an 18W fast charge option.

The Umidigi Bison has a 4-layer liquid cooling system to keep things cool and running smoothly for gaming and other tasks.

In conclusion, enthusiasts who purchase this smartphone will be getting a capable device that promises to run a variety of tasks smoothly.

The Umidigi Bison runs the standard Android 10 operating system. This means that enthusiasts will not have to worry about bloatware.

Connectivity

The USB type-c port, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC support, and WiFi connectivity are all included in the Umidigi Bison.

Internet connectivity is limited to 4G, which means that enthusiasts will not be able to use this device at 5G speeds.
