You’ll get a recording if you call any of the Palo Alto-area phone lines for the social media behemoth platform that you can easily find via online search (650-543-4800 and 650-308-7300, respectively). It will guide you through a succession of options, with each option directing you to send an email to the correct account. For media requests, there’s press@FB.com, and for law enforcement concerns, there’s records@FB.com.
But what happens if you dial 1 for customer service? The recording will instruct you to click the word “Help,” which is “located at the bottom of any Facebook page,” according to the recording. The problem is, it isn’t. In fact, there is no “bottom” of the page if you’re on your main Facebook feed. Instead, consider the following options.
Contact Facebook customer support
You must first log into your Facebook account before contacting them. Then, at the upper right corner of the screen, look up. There’s a small question symbol inside a dark circle there. Select “Report a Problem” from the dropdown menu after clicking it.
A new menu will appear, with four alternatives to choose from. These are the following:
- General Feedback
- Payment Issue
- Something Isn’t Working
- Abusive Content
You’ll know where to go if you want to report hate speech or a problem with your account, such as trouble uploading images. (For example, “Abusive Content” for the hate, “Something Isn’t Working” for the upload issue.) However, Facebook is a bit of a mystery when it comes to ordinary customer service questions.
You can try sending a message through the “General Feedback” link, but Facebook makes it clear that you won’t get a response. “Though we can’t review and respond to every submission, we do use feedback like yours to improve the Facebook experience for everyone,” the company says.
Your best approach might be to avoid contacting Facebook directly and instead go to the Help Community and ask other platform users similar to yourself.
Ask the Facebook Help Community a question

Click the question mark in the top right corner of any Facebook page once more. The words “Help Center” appear at the top of the dropdown menu. There’s a link there.
Scroll down as far as you can on the Help Center page. Click “Visit Help Community” near the bottom of the page on the left.
You’ll be directed to a page where many questions have already been answered, but you can also ask your own. A gray box with the words “Ask a Question” appears at the top right of the Help Community page.
Please click on the link. Choose the appropriate Topic and Sub-Topic on the following page, then type your question. Now it’s time to sit and wait. Regardless of where you posed your issue, you may check your “Support Inbox” from the menu that drops down from the same question mark to see if anyone has opted to help you, whether it’s a helpful community member or an actual staff member.
Contact Facebook via other social media platforms
Reaching out to Facebook through or mentioning them on another social media network is another approach to try to contact with them. You can tweet a direct message to Facebook or use their @Facebook Twitter account in a Tweet. They will most likely see it if it gains enough traction.
You can also approach via Instagram, adding Facebook in a post, but unless that photo gets a lot of love, you’re probably better off returning to the Facebook Help Center.
