Fitness isn’t just a hobby if you’re like the majority of our readers. It’s a way of life. So it’s only natural that you’d want your health, wellbeing, and active lifestyle to flow over into your dating life.
Are you sick of swiping on Tinder? Find a like-minded partner who is equally as strong and motivated as you are and enjoys to sweat it out on a walk, WOD, or climb in her spare time.
These apps and services will make online and mobile dating much more efficient.
1. Sweatt
If you don’t live in the Big Apple, please accept my apologies. This app is only available to New York City residents. Sweatt is a dating app that asks users questions about their workout routine before matching them with men or women who share their lifestyle, fitness, and wellness interests. It’s fine if you’re not a CrossFit aficionado. The software uses an algorithm to pair you up with someone who lives a similar lifestyle to you. They take into account how often you exercise, what time of day you prefer to exercise, and what forms of exercise you enjoy. You’ll be driven by your matches. But, best of all, your schedules will not collide, allowing you to visit one other.
Your profile is displayed on the app: The app has the appearance and feel of Instagram thanks to full-screen profile photographs. Conversations can start flowing if you and a possible match like one other.
2. SingleFit
SingleFit is an app that uses location and health tracker data from items like your Apple HealthKit, Fitbit, or Microsoft Band to truly personalize the process and identify the perfect match for you. When you find a match, you can have a live video chat with them, similar to a speed date, to get a feel for each other’s personalities before meeting in person.
3. True Swolemates
“The only social networking dating platform for discovering your real lifting and life companion,” True Swolemates claims. This is a great option if you’re into CrossFit or bodybuilding. The service is delivered through a community of exercise enthusiasts. You build your own profile and upload images, similar to Facebook (a cover and profile image). View and connect with the profiles of other members. Send a message, discuss your PRs, or simply talk about yourself.
4. WellSquad + ATLETO
Okay, so this isn’t a dating service or app in the traditional sense, but it does increase your chances of discovering a potential love interest while also improving your health. ATLETO is an app that connects you with like-minded athletes based on where you live, your skill level, how often you play, and other factors, so you can make new friends (or more-than-friends) with whom you can play soccer, flag football, kickball, and virtually any other sport. It’s a social networking site that, by chance, can connect you with your ideal match.
5. Happn
The beauty of happn is the degree of isolation. The program allows you to find out who you’ve crossed paths with in the past or who you’re likely to cross paths with in the future, and then reach out and connect with them. You can check how many times you’ve come close to another person on each profile. If you have a female at your gym or someone you meet on your running path who is also on happn, the app will keep track of your interactions. When a girl walks through a location you’ve visited before or is just a few feet away from you, her profile will appear in your feed. (Are you afraid of seeing someone on the app? Simply click the icon at the top of their profile image to “x” them out.)
